Criminal Record Bureau Checks
Criminal Record Bureau Checks

The Criminal Records Bureau (CRB) is an executive agency of the home office set up to help organisations make safer recruitment decisions by identifying candidates who may not be suitable for certain work, especially that involve children or vulnerable adults. The CRB appoints organisations as registered bodies to gather the relevant information required to make the checks and send it to the bureau. SCILL is a CRB registered organisation.
If you are an employer, SCILL's Criminal Records Bureau Service is a "one-stop-shop" that will help you to have background checks done on people working, seeking to work or volunteering to work with children or vulnerable adults. This enables you to make a fully informed recruitment decision.
A copy of the CRB check will be sent out to the applicant as well as to SCILL (as the Registered Body), which will then be forwarded to you.
The CRB recognises disclosed information can be extremely sensitive and personal, therefore it has published a Code of Practice and employers' guidance for recipients of a CRB check to ensure they are handled fairly and used properly. Anyone using SCILL's service is expected to agree and comply with the standards detailed within these documents, which we will mail to you.
We keep our customers updated of any changes in legislation.
