SCILL & LBS

The London Borough of Sutton (LBS) and the Sutton Centre for Independent Living and Learning (SCILL) have a long and positive relationship stretching back over 15 years. SCILL was originally started by LBS in 1994 as a response to a consultation with the disabled community of Sutton; the borough handed it over to become a charity in its own right in 1996. Over the years, in partnership with LBS, our service users and the wider community, SCILL has developed and delivered a wide range of services designed to support disabled people to fulfil their potential and unlock their talents.
In line with statutory rules and regulations SCILL has to tender for contracts alongside other business and voluntary organisations. We are currently the LBS provider for Self Directed Support, for Independent Living Services and for Information and Advice. SCILL is also the Centre for Independent Living, in line with Putting People First.
SCILL's vision is to see disabled people having the same choice, freedom, dignity and control over their lives as non-disabled people.
